A fine pair of early 19th Century French locks with original burnished finish for a double barrelled flintlock sporting gun. The lock plates are superb quality, each finely engraved on the tail with a goose grazing beside a tree, the gold makers stamp surrounded by an engraved wreath, the stamp appears to bear the initials B & C.
Everything about these locks is of highest quality, the flint cocks, the frizzens, the fine engraving & the platinum lined pans with their intricate worked scroll fences.
These would have come from a very high quality sporting gun, similar locks can be seen in guns made by the top French maker Nicolas Boutet!
Overall length 14cm.
