An early & very unusual British Heavy Cavalry Troopers Sword, the sword with pierced semi basket guard, large fluted olive shaped pommel and a brass wire bound rayskin covered grip( some loss to rayskin). The hilted has two grooves each with a a row of holes to allow a liner to be attached. The 32" single edged blade is stamped on either side with a Crown over IR above IEFRIS(Jefris, the blade maker). This is a very unusual sword and the only information we have been able to find about it is an old article published in the "Canadian Journal of Arms Collecting", Vol 31,No3,Aug 1993 by Norman J. Crook called "British & Canadian Honeysuckle Hilts".
