| A Very Rare 16 Bore Chillingham Rifle by Purdey |

A very rare 16 bore percussion rifled musket by Purdey and made for the Earl of Tankerville for his estate at Chillingham Castle Northumberland circa 1832-33. The Earl ordered 35 Rifled muskets 33 of which were like this one and the other two had silver mounts and were for the Earl and his son.

A 19th Century iron cannon mounted on its original wooden carriage. The barrel is approx 4' long and is marked on the breech FALKIRK 2PR( 2 Pounder). The cannon barrel has been painted silver and appears to be in good order underneath the paint. The carriage is in quite good overall condition although weathered and there is minor perishing the wheels.This type of cannon was manufactured by the Carron Company of Falkirk and it was known as a Carronade.
