| James Farrington (L.M. HMS Namur) was born in Rochester c-1781, he joined the navy as a volunteer 15th March 1803 aboard HMS Ranger and later HMS Ardent from March 1803 until he joined HMS Namur on the 20th April 1805. On 4th Nov that year took part in the capture off Cape Finistere of 4 French line battle ships that escaped at Trafalgar earning his NGS medal which was awarded 43 years later. He joined HMS Valiant on the 3rd July 1807 until April 1809 when he was discharged sick to Plymouth Hospital suffering from scrophula. He was discharged from service on July 20th 1809.
