| A Very Rare 16 Bore Chillingham Rifle by Purdey |
| A very rare 16 bore percussion rifled musket by Purdey and made for the Earl of Tankerville for his estate at Chillingham Castle Northumberland circa 1832-33. The Earl ordered 35 Rifled muskets 33 of which were like this one and the other two had silver mounts and were for the Earl and his son.
This one is in superb condition and retains it original brown twist to the barrel and original colour case hardened finish to the lock plate, breach and barrel tang. The guns were numbered in their own serial range and this one is number 30 which is engraved on the breach and barrel tang and also stamped on the ramrod. |
